7 Candle Care Tips

At Seven Sisters Candle Co. we don’t just craft beeswax candles, we aim to bring you Pure Light that shines steady, strong and true. Here are 7 easy tips to ensure you get the most out of every burn.

Tip 1: Trim to Win

Before you strike that match, give the wick a quick trim to 7mm. This simple step ensures a steady, clean flame and prevents flickering, smoke and carbon build up. Think of it as a quick hair cut for your candle - it burns better and cleaner every time.

Tip 2: First Impressions Matter

Your candle’s first burn is like a handshake - it sets the tone.

2-inch candles? Burn at least 2 hours.

3-inch candles? Make it 3 hours.

4-inch candles? Commit to 4 hours.

This creates an even wax pool, prevents tunneling, and sets your candle up for a perfect burn every time.

Tip 3: Stay out of the wind

Drafts are your candle’s worst enemy. To keep the flame steady and the wax burning evenly, set your candle in a calm, draft-free spot —no fans, open windows, or curious pets nearby. A wild flame not only wastes wax but can lead to dripping and uneven burning.

Tip 4: Dunk, Don’t Blow

When it’s time to put out the flame, don’t blow it out - dunk it. Use a wick dipper (or a clever tool like a paperclip) to dip the wick into wax, then straighten it back up. This trick keeps things smoke-free and makes relighting easier.

Tip 5: Keep It Clean

Clear out any wick trimmings, matches, or debris from the wax pool. These uninvited guests can clog the wick, causing your candle to flicker, burn too hot and waste precious beeswax.

Tip 6: Respect the Space

Candles need personal space too. Place them at least 7 centimetres apart to avoid heat transfer that could melt wax unevenly. Always use a flame-resistant holder or plate under your candle to protect surfaces from drips or spills—because nobody likes a waxy surprise.

Tip 7: Store Smart, Burn Bright

When not in use, keep your candles in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight to preserve their natural color and scent. If you notice bloom—a soft, white film—it’s just beeswax showing off its purity. Wipe it gently or let it glow proudly as proof of authenticity.

Treat your Seven Sisters Candle with care, and it’ll reward you with hours of warm, steady light. Because this isn’t just a candle—it’s Pure Light.
